The SA Government, as part of its initiative to increase facilities for wind power in the Adelaide area, commissioned erection of 4 small wind turbines at Adelaide Shores boat haven precinct to power facilities.
Greenhill organised soil investigation and designed footings for four single poles to support turbines up 15 m above ground. The design featured a single pole at ground level with multiple supports at height for the turbines, accommodating variable wind loads, vibration effects, limitations of movement and stability for a high level of safety in this exposed location without resorting to the use of piles. Turbines included Sky Stream and Sirocco.
Greenhill also designed modifications to the car/boat wash-down area drainage to protect the footings and pre-treat the stormwater and wash-down water.
