GREENHILL was the lead consultant for the Northern CBD project, undertaking the landscape and civil design and documentation. GREENHILL also managed multiple sub-consultants for the project including the electrical reticulation, lighting design, water feature, centenary lighting, irrigation design and geo-technical design.
The advantage GREENHILL brought to the project was the combination of civil and landscape disciplines in one office, enabling the team to deliver the tight time frames imposed by the project.
The project includes a large plaza for community and festival use which is illuminated by overhead centenary lighting. A multi-use stage and sunken turf area complete the plaza and enable a range of community or private events to be operated. A range of seated areas and above ground planter treatments form smaller spaces enabling individual or group use of the plaza both during the day and at night.
A historical water feature was adapted and re-used in the plaza. This element required careful analysis and planning to successfully incorporate into the overall design aesthetic of the plaza.
The site embraces smart technology by including a range of services including three phase power, general power outlets, usb charging points and smart car changing points.
